SK, Re: 350M shares for 3Q01 EPS

I think AMD was referring to fully diluted shares since this is how they typically report values. With the recent conversion of the convertible bonds the difference between shares outstanding and fully diluted has become much smaller (basically employee stock options). From the most recent report, there was a dip in the fully diluted share count (351M to 340M) and a rise in the outstanding (314M to 330M).

This is probably a "don't care" but it is a little curious how the values have fluctuated over the last couple of quarters. Perhaps someone with more experience with employee stock options granting and valuation would comment. Is the shares outstanding weighted so only part of the converted shares were counted for the quarter? This still wouldn't explain the change in diluted shares.
