Tiger:

I don't think you are right. The procedure used at pregancy clinics is not natural. I don't think you can prove that assertion. Even if you are right, a much higher percentage of fetuses become sentient than people who enter the "persistant vegetative state" recover. In fact it is almost a newsworthy event if someone comes out of a coma. Once a woman becomes pregnant it is expected the child will grow to term and be born, it is is not aborted.

I will concede that there seems to be an unusually high percentage of miscarriages these days and I wonder why?

At any rate the whole problem with the abortion situation is that there are those who believe that life begins at conception and those who believe it begins sometime later. Oddly enough, I am not sure it matters. If you read any of the case law regarding the police power, prior to Roe v. Wade, it is clear that the State would have an interest in protecting the fetus whether or not it is a human life. In fact Roe v. Wade recognizes this idea for abortions after the first trimester. It is difficult to reconcile Roe v. Wade with the thousands of cases where the Supreme Court has used to police power to allow the government to regulate almost anything and yet somehow abortion is an exception. Very odd. The Liberal Supreme Court of the Warren years was extremely anti liberterian except when it came to certain aspects of freedom. It largely supported the right of the government to regulate our lives ad nausea.
It ignored the ninth and tenth amendments in all cases but abortion and reproductive rights. I guess it is proof that judges make their decision and then look for some law to hang their hat on. They sure are not consistent.
