STAMFORD, Conn., July 12 (Reuters) - International Paper Inc. (NYSE:IP - news), the world's No. 1 forestry products company, on Thursday said it would curtail production and slash 655 more jobs -- two weeks after saying it would cut 3,000 workers -- as the strong dollar undercuts results and demand softens.

``The strong dollar has continuously weakened our export business in containerboard, while increasing imports of coated paper,'' International Paper Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Dillon said in a statement.
