Thanks for this fine thread. Enjoy it immensely.

There is something I do not understand regarding the
accounting, however. It concerns the portfolio value
of your short positions.

Here is my attempt to reconcile the total account value
as of 7/13/01.

Value of long positions 412,835
Cash 578,808
Open short positions (restricted cash) 1,349,842
Unrealized loss on open short positions (40,497)
---------
Total 2,300,978

Total per your summary 2,051,157
----------
Difference ??? 249,821

Please point out what I am doing wrong.
