Which would you rather live under, rules made by people that are accountable
to the populace or rules set by self-proclaimed visionaries?

Well, our tax code is a rule made by those people you claim are accountable to the populance.

I guess you like living under it.

I also understand that you reject Plato's concept of a rule by philosopher kings. But when I look at our present elected officials, frankly philosopher kings start to look mighty good to me.
