Congratulations to China on winning the Olympics! "I dislike those who think God gives them power to abuse, and they think they have power because God rewards them." I don't believe that if there is a God he would work thru organized religions. Organized religions are just political groups and I agree they are dangerous to the state, they must be separate and they should be taxed. They should have no more special sanction than a McDonalds restaurant or barber shop. Look at England with the Anglican church which was basically set up in opposition to Roman Catholicism and because Henry the VIII wanted more wives. Neither the Anglican or the Roman Catholic religions have much to do with Christ but much to do with politics. However, the state must not influence the basic grass-roots culture of a nation thru support of the arts or the media. When that happens the life-blood of the people becomes impotent and sterile like we see in Canada. "What a joke ..." Common ground at last.
