Krispy Kreme has operated stores since 1937, over 62 years. During this time, we
are fortunate to have developed many loyal customers.
A few years ago, Krispy Kreme began a national expansion program. The
exposure and national attention we have received has generated a level of
excitement and interest in our Company that has exceeded our expectations. As a
result, we currently receive over 500 letters and phone calls a week requesting
franchise information. While we are very pleased to have tremendous interest in
our Company, we are unfortunately not able to respond personally, as we would
prefer, to each and every call or letter. We do, however, want anyone interested

Franchising Opportunities in the US and Canada
We want to thank you for your interest in a Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation
franchise. As you may be aware, we have granted development rights for all of
the major metropolitan markets within the United States and Canada. These
markets are currently under development and stores will be opening soon. There
are no additional franchise opportunities in any major metropolitan market.
Regarding future development and franchise opportunities, Krispy Kreme is in the
process of finalizing our smaller market strategy. Smaller markets are those
markets with populations of at least 150,000. Krispy Kreme plans to develop the
balance of the United States with stores in every market and we expect to make
an announcement in the near future regarding our expansion into smaller markets.
Until our small market strategy is finalized, we are not offering or accepting
applications for franchises. For information about Krispy Kreme's expansion plans

website. Information may also be found in the "Openings" subsection of the
"Bulletin Board" as well.
International Franchise Opportunities
Should you or your group wish to be considered in the future to develop in a
country outside of the US and Canada, please review the basic requirements and
write to the address below.
To help you better understand our franchise opportunities, we have listed the main
criterion and steps required to become a candidate for a franchise.
The first criteria is that applicants must have current ownership and operating
experience or previous ownership and operating experience of multi-unit food
service operations in the market that you desire to develop.
Secondly, our franchisees must posses the capital sufficient to fund the
development of the market. We currently grant franchises on an area development
basis. Specifically, our area developers are required to build multiple stores (10 or
more) in a market. The minimum net worth requirement is $5 million or $750,000
per store to be developed which ever is greater. For instance, a 15-store market
requires a minimum net worth of $11,250,000.
The third criteria is that area developers must have substantial familiarity with the
market proposed for development and be willing to develop multiple units over a
period of time. In addition, they must be willing to diligently exert full-time best
efforts in performing their obligations under the area development agreement.
