when dogs get more attention than abused children in this country.

I don't think that the reaction to justice for the dog detracts in any way from children. I think that we are seeing a rising tide of repulsion against brutality and uncontrolled rage. A rising tide lifts all boats. Children still ride higher than dogs, but dogs now are being accorded a place in the boat.
