1. I find it hypocritical to place "pets" on such a high level in a country which condones so much cruelty to so called "farm animals." Until this hypocrisy subsides, I would never approve of a penalty such as the one in this case.

2. I find rage to be a mitigating factor. Repeated systematic abuse worries me a lot more than abuse like this- done in a fit of fury.

3. I think a fine and a warning would be sufficient for the heinous dog throwing. We've got murderers we are letting out of jail because there isn't enough space. Dog killers are WAY way down there, for me.

4. And I agree with you about the Chandra Levy case.
