Why did he say it, or why will this be the case? The reason he said it was that Duron sales soared in Q2 while Athlon sales actually declined. This is hinted at by AMD's statement that, in aggregate, Duron/Athlon sales increased, which probably means one of them declined. Guess which one.

The only way to sell more Athlons is to either slash the price on Athlon (which AMD has been doing), or raise the price on Durons (which they have not been doing). Whichever step is taken however, is destined to fail unless done aggressively enough.
