If these parts are Athlon4 parts that have defective regions in the L2 cache, they are effectively costing AMD only what is needed to disable part of the cache and retest. I can picture AMD continuing this procedure in the future, but creating mobile Duron parts by disabling cache and enabling PowerNow! in desktop Palomino processors with defective regions of L2 cache.
