Hi CB, this I did not know about because I had not paid attention to the price differential between same bads sold in Europe and Japan. I was paying cursory attention to the price difference between the real bag sold in HK where the Japanese tourists come to shop and the imitation bag made and sold in Shenzhen across the border in China where many HK tai-tais go to shop.
The tai-tais are do-nothing decorative wives of business types who spend the morning sleeping, noon eating, early afternoon spa-ing, late afternoon shopping, chatting and gambling, then go home in driven Mercedes, in time for evening parties catered, or meals cooked by maids.
It is now socially acceptable due to quality, value and reverse snob appeal fashion for the tai-tais to go to Shenzhen to shop for generic but look-alike LV bags priced at 20% of the discounted real bags in HK (parallel imported from Europe).
I do note that a Swiss platinum complicated watch in HK transacts for about 60% of the retail list in the USA, 90% of internet transactable price in the USA, and same watch in Europe can be had for about 75% of HK transaction price, unless the item is truly unique, as in one of a kind, as in something like ...
Star Calibre 2000, one set (of four watches in Rose Gold, Yellow Gold, White Gold and Platinum) available, no discount ...

Internet mostly destroys margins, but increases total value, for some.
On your earlier post concerning the 1930s economic revival ... what do you think is going to dig the world out of the current V, W or U or L__]?
