Hi CB, Oops, fail-safe failed. After I got into the taxi, I then noted my flight is not until this afternoon, and that I actually have a meeting at noon time. So much for all my computers. Like the Ford SUV, nothing is fail safe. Now at least you know how long a taxi ride it is from my home to office, and add in a few minutes to boot up my fail-safe desktop PC :0)
<<Japan as a threat>> No, I don't believe Japan is a threat. I referenced them only because that they are (so is everybody else, no doubt) working on this which could be the basis of the truly fabulous big kaboom ...

However, on <<they ... evolved beyond that>>, no, some of this "They" have definitely not, but US is keeping them in check so far, because the very docile population certainly are not doing so, just as they did not before. Not much has changed. They believe the only thing they did wrong is to lose the last war, which They did not start, and They and they both, for the most part, believe the US started it. Or at least that is what their collective history textbooks say. But, more unfortunately, the They are in many positions of power now. However, fortunately, but not for They, this time They will not get very far past the sands of Korea, because Korea has changed.
The equation of time makes sure that the world cycles through familiar and problematic events, calling for new approaches and solutions, "Ground Hog Day" style.
