Glenn, you stated, in discussing IO's pricing strategy, that "the business fact is that PC sales are in trouble." I assume you are basing this conclusion on the fact that Digital pre-reported decreased earnings for Q2 based on flagging demand. I believe that in doing so, you are making the same mistake that many Wall Street analysts make toward the end of every reporting period. The mistake is to assume that just because one computer maker warns of disappointing earnings (which they always attribute to something outside their control) that all computer manufacturers will report similar results.

The same thing happened last March. A few companies pre-announced lower earnings, tech stocks took a sharp dive. Then the true results came in, and it turned out that there were a lot of surprises on the upside of expectations. Suddenly, tech stocks were the hot buys.

I'll believe that PC sales in general are down when I see actual numbers from all the players in the industry. In the meantime, I believe you are correct in speculating that even with reduced PC sales, the market for additional storage will remain strong.
