That is exactly what is happening in the Java community. J2ee has effectively stalled while the major players wrestle with their proprietary extensions. Same old Same old in the Unix camp - tout portability then differentiate for competitive advantage thereby fragmenting the community. Some things never change as IBM is using Java and Linux to once again sell hardware. IMHO Keithsha
