D, I post on what I consider to be self evident and from that I paint where what is self evident leads. Now those who can't, won't, or don't want to see what I see as self evident may feel strong emotion. Discomfort.

Now your perspective of surrendering the next 18 years of one's life as what being a parent means is an extremely pessimistic view.

Seeing the development and joy and pain of an emerging person are what makes life worth living. But many caught in the chasing the goods of status game lose sight of that.
It's all about frame of mind that leads to state of mind.

I have spent much more time on average with my children than many other parents. I chose to run my life so that was possible. I do have many things that other don't and I don't have many things that others do. But I do have three wonderful young adults that are taking on the world. At 50 I feel I have had a very fulfilled and successful life.

Do you think in terms of convenience? I prefer to think in terms of responsibility. Do you express the concept of self? I prefer to explore selfless. Is a life full or empty? Giving of oneself in person is far more rewarding than paying taxes so some public servant can dole out some impersonal giving.
These are statement of my frame of mind. In America all are free to have whatever frame of mind.
