Leading Scientists to Discuss the Future of the Human Proteome Project At Seattle Proteomics Conference

NEW YORK, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Institute for International Research today announced that leading academic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology scientists will meet to discuss advances in proteomics and the future of the Human Proteome Project at their Proteomics conference on September 24 - 25, 2001 in Seattle, WA. The 2-day conference will be chaired by Joshua LaBaer, MD, PhD, Director, Institute of Proteomics at Harvard Medical School, and focuses on the practical application of proteomics in accelerating drug development.
The conference features a Keynote Address by Ian Humphery-Smith, PhD, Professor at the Universiteit Utrecht as well as other speakers from the Human Proteome Organisation (HUPO), including new HUPO President Samir M. In addition, Stanley A. Hefta, PhD, Executive Director of Proteomics, Bristol-Myers Squibb, will speak on ``The Application of Proteomics to Drug Discovery and Biomarkers,'' and Tomi K. Sawyer, PhD, Vice President of Drug Discovery, Ariad Pharmaceuticals, will discuss ``Leveraging Structure-Based Drug Design to Discover Novel and Effective Inhibitors of Protein-Protein Interactions.''
