Baird, I know, I laugh at some of the crap we studied in stats too. But, the oscillation of the stock is the regression toward and away from a mean trading price (simple explanation). Oscillation formulas judge what the naked eye can not see relative to a price swing in one direction or the other (RSYS is familiar with oscillation testing techniques in their business, I'm sure). Computerized trading programs rely partially on oscillation trends to determine a buy/sell in an issue. RSYS did receive a "buy" at the open at $39 as it peaked here (buy at the PEAKS, as it were), peaked again at $41 (another buy) and fell off at the close, only to partially return the last ten minutes (positive). There are intraday, one, two, three, week, month trading patterns. It has an extremely high probability for showing pressure one way or the other (your naked eye can not see what the formulation gives and the formulation does take into account past oscillations - so a stock moving up on good news in one day will affect all past oscillation formulations in this manner). Oscillation is only one measure though, there are many others that computer program trading takes into account and that we follow.
RSYS showed a positve buy this morning at $39 on an intraday basis. However, still remained negative on a three day basis (this can change at any time, and does - if it does, I'm here waiting). The most positive of formations is an upturning line with an upturning stock price (this is exactly what RSYS showed this morning at the market open). Yes, I've traded in and out of RSYS based on oscillations. I'm very familiar with RSYS the company. Intraday RSYS was positive, three day, negative to neutral, monthly positive (oscillations vary relative to the time frame to which you're referring). There isn't anything amoral about looking at charts and making short term judgments. No, I've never shorted RSYS for personal reasons. Investing is not a hobby, it's a job.
Looking into such patterns helps one understand how a stock moves. I've been very bullish on RSYS since its recent price drop to $24 where I originally bought a lot of it at $25 to $28. I probably shouldn't be posting all this information, and so I apologize if you'd rather not read this bs. |
