We should ask for volunteeers and in the unlikely event there is more than one there should be a simple, public vote by people who have posted to the thread.

Good points. If there is more than one volunteer, it might be a good idea to share the moderation, e.g. to nominate two different moderators. That would allow a more balanced moderation and if someone is e.g. on a business trip, vacation or something like that, there would be still a moderator left. I don't know if this is technical possible but I liked to have a long-standing moderation that responses quickly and can be reached in a timely manner (i.e. <24h response time). It's probably also a good idea that the moderation doesn't get too involved in discussions since it could influence possible decisions.

My suggestion: We should mail Mani and ask him why he isn't responding (I just did). If we don't get an answer in the next few days, someone should get in touch with SI administration to set up a new moderation.
