This kind of stuff goes beyond "music"..the guy's soul is in that piece man. While the Shania Twains of the world are counting their DOH! the real deal is going down...you just gotta find it.

I tried to download "Lilac Wine" first but every version I could find was missing the last 5 seconds. This means nothing in most songs with a fade but it means plenty on that tune as Jeff floats up and up and up into the final note....therefore the abridged version loses much of it's crescendo. Another one that just soars is called "Corpus Christi Carol"..it's simply an amazing vocal performance.

I was forced to resort to NET versions since I'm not home.

The rockers are killer too. "Last Goodbye" actually got some airplay back in the mid 90s. My personal fav "rocker" is called "Lover, You Should've Come Over"..

...broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it

where are you tonight, child you know how much i need it

too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run

sometimes a man gets carried away,
when he feels like he should be having his fun

and much too blind to see the damage he's done

sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one

so i'll wait for you... and i'll burn
will i ever see your sweet return
oh will i ever learn

oh lover, you should've come over
'cause it's not too late

Many of his tunes speak to the desperation felt when it's OVER and we want it back...even when we know it's wrong.

Like I said this stuff is just fantastic and it's a real tragedy that we'll never get to watch him develop and grow as a performer and human. I believe his voice was flawless so we did get to hear that at it's absolute best. He was so very young when he died (30), as was his Dad(28).........

this is a very good look at his time here execpc.com
