AT&T is about to begin their GSM/GPRS roll-out. The first area is Seattle.

The rate plans are pretty interesting. The top rate plan allows a price of $2.50 a Megabyte. This makes me wonder a little bit about the oft-cited Qualcomm slide that shows the underlying economics for the various air interfaces.

EDIT....found the slide. Realize that Qualcomm estimated 42 cents a MB. Still looks valid.

I assume that the initial implementation of this service will only involve GPRS cards and not handsets....
