We have some people who believe that we must decide for ourselves what rules
are to govern our conduct. Others belive that appropriate rules are revealed to us
by people who claim to be in touch with God.

But you miss a major point. Those who believe that rule sare revealed by God have decided for themselves what rules are to govern their conduct just as you have.

You have, for example, apparently decided to believe in certain principles. So have they.

Just because beliefs don't include God and theirs do doesn't make any difference.

You have both chosen what you want to believe.

I will agree that my "women as humans" issue was not the best one to use. Here's a much better one.

Should the abortion of a fetus in third trimester purely for convenience and not for the health of the mother be considered murder?

And why or why not?

This boils down very simply to what you think it means to be human.

There is no scientific answer to this. There is no way to "logically" argue to a conclusion without starting with basic assumptions which must be assumed.

it is a pure matter of belief.

Whether you choose to embrace a belief because you believe it comes from God, or whether you choose to embrace a belief because you believe it comes from something else, presumably something that resonates with yo personally, is, IMO, irrelevant.

You choose your belief. No science, no logic, can make your right or wrong.

Choose God, choose no God, it's the same thing.

Even you ought to be bright enough to understand that.
