Why is vegetarianism gaining in popularity then? and not in your crowd I bet.

I eat a very modest amount of meat. I think it is clearly more healthy to do so as opposed to a heavy meat diet. I do not begrudge a vegetarian or a meat eater. I do get tired of the sort of zealous evangelism that so many vegetarians employ.

I once had a long argument with a person about 'ethical vegetarianism' that made me think so much it actually changed my mind.

You see... I came at the issue from the standpoint that eating animals caused suffering and therefore vegetarianism is a valid ethical choice. (this is the implication in your posts... vegetarianism causes less suffering). He actually IS a vegetarian. I have never been. This was an interesting argument. He argued against ethical vege*nism and won me over.

The fact of the matter is simple. Your very life causes suffering and death. The vegetables you eat are harvested with the death of sentient creatures. Pesticides, fences, threshing machines, and so on and so on... Doesn't matter how 'organic' or whatever either... All food harvesting causes death.

But if you were a veg*n I would respect your choice, although I think *ethical* veg*nism is a foolish one.

I do however find it strange that ANY ethical veg*n could possibly support abortion.

Very strange indeeed.

Of course ethical veg*ns have made an illogical and foolish choice in the first place.
