The White House is allowed to accept gifts like food or liquor, but such gifts are barred at the vice president's mansion and other official residences as potentially illegal gratuities.

I wonder how many donations of liquor were sent to Bush. And did he accept them?

And how come gifts [of such type] are considered potentially illegal gratuities, but are not for the White House? Does this dual standard trace back to Agnew?
