The mind set of a commando and the poet
The Pakistani President is very much a commando, who lost two wars to India. He is impatient and believes in results rather than the process. On the other hand the veteran statesman Vajpayee, who is soaked in politics, poetry and statesmanship for very many years believes in the process. Musharraf is surgical in his approach to any subject. Diagnose the problem and device a surgical solution to the problem in the spirit of a commando. He does not understand that commando tactics should be dropped for the process to succeed. The neophyte has a very limited vocabulary at his command - Kashmir, central issue, plebiscite, war, nuclear, a few more words and phrases. There is no way a poet can convey the nuances of words, phrases and sentiments to a commando. It is like talking to a simian.

Is it possible for the general to metamorphose into a seasoned politician and a statesman in the short few years he has run the country of Pakistan? It is like making an instant pickle. It doesn't work.

The commando would not guarantee, within the ambit of the Kashmir issue, cessation of cross-border terrorism, originating in his country. He has been stomping his feet too long that his brain has become a mush.
