Tramp has been sleeping in my workshop so I started leaving the cover off of the kitty door. A raccoon walked right in and helped himself to her food. Tramp was in the house, sleeping on a chair. Caught the thief eating her food and took off after it. Shark heard the ruckus and got there just as the raccoon took off like lightening through the kitty door. Needless to say, the cover is now a permanent part of our nightly checklist.
