Okay.

Personally, I don't think the petition has scientific validity, but I do think it is an indication that there is significant disagreement in the scientific community.

As to whether we should give credence to scientists from other disciplines, well, I have two things to say.

a. Why would so many scientists damage their reputations in the scientific community by signing the petition if they didn't legitimately believe there were questions still open?

b. When we give credence to actor opr actresses speaking out on political matters which have NOTHING to do with acting, it seems a bit harsh to give no credence to scientists speaking on scientific issues.
