It was only with the establishment society that he was unknowingly estranged.

Even then, he got along ok with the establishment on the surface; he wasn't outwardly an "other". He talked with his neighbors, and dated, and worked a regular job. He wasn't noticeably different until events called attention to him and his lack of emotion.
He was certainly a sensualist- all the things that brought him pleasure were in the physical realm.

For the religious, the devil makes them do it, for Meursault the sun made him do it.
