I doubt that that's the case. Intel is judged on it's final bottom line numbers. From the perspective of the average investor, or average analyst for that matter, it doesn't seem to matter which bucket the profits or revenue come from. I don't see the motivation.

From this investors standpoint, it's disgusting the money they are throwing away on the other businesses.
