Seriously, I know what you mean... but good news isn't nearly so newsworthy: it's expected. "Plane doesn't crash again" or "No hurricane again today, still no casualties" aren't going to be headlines (except maybe in The Onion).
The nearest you'll generally see is on new medical breakthroughs, or sometimes other scientific advances - but the media (generally non-scientifically-trained) finds more scope for disparagement... especially if/when it doesn't really understand the advance or what it might mean. I don't think the lauding of nuclear power, etc, really helped either.
Lastly, environmental problems mainly are getting nastier...
