I just wish these influential females would at least just remain silent, as opposed to actually standing tall for this character.

First of all, I don't see what difference it makes if people who are condemning or supporting Condit are male or female. What does gender have to do with the quality or flavor of one's judgment.

Secondly, I think it's important to look at just what people are standing up for. I'd be surprised if anyone were supporting him on his affair with Levy. I certainly haven't heard any such thing. OTOH, I would think we all would support his right to presumed innocence until proven guilty of murder, or at least until there was some particle of tangible evidence of guilt, or at least until there was some tangible evidence of murder.
