I think that's probably true. It's also true of me. I wouldn't last five minutes in an environment where it's important who speaks first, who stands, who sits, what shape the table is, and where you never say exactly what you mean. You and I know ourselves well enough not to get into such a position. There are other ways to earn a living.

When one is President, though, one has to deal effectively with that stuff. That is reality. Bush has enough people around him who have lived that life and who can help him though it.

I suppose it's his prerogative to ignore it or to try to change it to a culture and style that suits him better, but he does so at his and our peril, and he and you shouldn't be surprised when he is rebuked, or blame it solely on differences in policy, or on THOSE people--the Europeans.
