Everything in the universe is a POTENTIAL human. Should we put every egg, sperm, mite, and cherry pit in the universe on ice? Obviously we can't--so your "choice" is meaningless.

A Cherry pit isn't even a potential human. The atoms and molecules within it may one day be part of a human, but it has no human potential. The cherry pit will not turn in to a human. A sperm is closer but the sperm will not develop in to a human either. You can give sperm a supportive environment and watch them to they die and none of them will ever turn in to a human. A fetus or even an embryo is a human. A very undeveloped one but still a member of our species.
