Re: "The Constitution contemplated the adverse effect of such mob rule and implemented the Electoral College ..."

No. That wasn't the case at all. The fact that Vermont and Wyoming get three electoral votes each instead of 1/2 each was simply a compromise to appease small states to ensure passage of the EC. I personally feel the EC may be outdated and needs to be scrapped, but that is a topic for another day.

What always strikes me as humorous is that jingoists like yourself seldom see past the here and now. The fact is, if Gore had won the electoral vote and Bush had won the popular vote, you and 10 million other right-wingers would be screaming for an overhaul of the Electoral College system.

Right or wrong?

As I have pointed out many times before: Every constitutional bias that a particular party enjoys at a given point in history can be used down the road just as effectively by the opposition party.

So while you may bask in the fact that D-Dubya-I prevailed even though he was the second banana in a two-banana race, I am content to allow the GOP to continue to alienate millions of voters by pushing right-wing issues that, for the most part, only benefit the wealthy or corrupt Big Business.
