In 1976 the IRS went back and found what they thought was an $80 error in my '72 return. I sent them documentation and got an "all clear" letter. In '77 they sent me another notice that I owed the $80 plus interest and penalties. Sent them the documentation plus the letter and got another "all clear" letter. In '79 I got yet another letter about my owing now over $100. I sent the documentation and the two letters. They put a lien on my house and put it up for sale. I paid the $112. I'm not Mel Gibson playing in a movie.
