IMO, he should make the tough the decision that's right for the country and NOT the political decision to please the hard right factions in his party. Even conservative Senators (like Frist and Hatch) are in favor of Federal Funding for Embryonic Stem Cell Research. This is a complex issue. Yet, its not that complicated when you realize that if this new research has adequate funding it could potentially revolutionize medicine and help us find cures for things like Alzheimers, Cancer, Parkinsons, etc...Everyone knows folks that are dealing with these diseases.

Lets hope the President steps up to the plate and makes a bold decision that the majority of the country will respect and benefit from.
