Actually, Christ's "turn the other cheek" statement was a radical, political statement ... and very subtle. By turning the cheek, the victim was actually forcing the abuser to strike with the other side of his hand, which was demeaning in Jewish culture in the Middle East at that time. In other words, embarrass him who embarrasses you.

Wow.

This concept undermines the entire Christian message.

If you are a Christian then this is something you MUST understand.

Not only is the message in the passage clear, and supported by other examples of laying down ones life. The passage begins with the clear instruction "But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person." Not "Let me tell you a subtle way to embarrass an evil person".

The rusult of Christ's philosophy can be seen in the result of his own action in submissive death. It has even worked for those who were not Christian. Ghandi for example.
