A&E a few weeks back had a special on Kennedy and Chappaquiddick. The story told by Kennedy and those involved don't fit the evidence in a dozen different ways.
Either ken was driving and friends were telling the truth or several Joe average folks were on drugs and in a dream world.

The thing that makes the most sense is that Ken and the girl were parking, They saw a cop. Ken sped off. Ken got out of car (can't be found drunk with young girl) Maryjo sped off and not knowing the way and also at .8 or higher drove car off. Kennedy did not know of the prob until hours later. Three separate witnesses saw cool Ken, dry with not a care and then later two other showed up wet and ken's attitude changed to agitated. If Maryjo passenger no marks from collison of body and right side of car. Lot's of other little details of the time.

Decided that the story collectively made up was the most politically correct. He screwed up and tried to be the noble hero but failed. So it your basic lying coward, get others to lie. Because it's all about sex.

Allowing another to drive off drunk to save your ass.
In my opinion is a far worse scum thing to do than actually driving. Legally not much of a problem. But politically.

Standard play of the fundamentally cowardly lying sacks of feces.
