BSX trying to crawl out of the swamp in the 2nd QTR.

Tobin's blocking & tackling grades (author's own misguided opinion only). I say this because it is my opinion that Tobin's job is to make BSX a self-sustaining, leading, mature acting, medical products comnpany.

Sales = B- (Not too bad considering stent sales slid so much)
COGS reduction/ Gross Margin enhancement = B
R&D expenses (way up in Q2) = B+
SG&A costs = C-
Balance Sheet Management = B+
Tie in Acquisition = {A little early to grade here)
Medinol mess = D Fish or cut bait with these guys. IMHO walk away.

BSX is making a large trun for the better. Unfortunately during the heyday M&A days people forgot about continual R&D in house innovation, balance sheet management, and other house cleaning chores. The Medinol mess was symptomatic of a company trying to offer a suite of products in a very rapid time frame. Mistakes were made and the company is paying them now.

Progress is being made. The light at the end of the tunnel is coated stents. BSX is in the second position currently. If data from the JNJ and BSX trials continues to be as good as it has been, then coated stents will make a very rapid intro into the market. GDT and MDT are behind and they know it.

Cheers,
