Haven't found one complimentary article on Bush all week.
He has set himself up for mockery, criticism and defeat on every major issue. Not only are his ideas usually unpopular or unnecessary but as his credibility crumbles fewer leaders both here and abroad are likely to dare to side with him, do his favors unless absolutely necessary or to even be seen as being an ally. Bush allies will go down next election. Maybe not in the oil patch but almost everywhere else. Republican moderates like McCain and the Democratic Senate leadership are now the ones we look to for true leadership which makes sense for America. Clinton stubbed his toes a few times out of the gate but Bush makes Clinton's first year look commendable. The honeymoon is over. The press is now through giving Bush a free ride.
What will happen next? Cheney must go, energy and pollution lobbyists inside the administration must go, Condaleeza Rice is over her head, Rumsfield is a dinosaur, O'Neil has conflicts of interest, Powell still stands tall but how did he make 50 million in 8 years? , DeLay and Armey have skewered themselves on their own greedy swords, Hassert has screwed up campaign finance reform on purpose and must go. Basically Bush's only allies left are the deep south, oil patch and rocky mountain right-wingers. If the election were held again today Bush would do as badly as Dole did, maybe worse. The congress will switch sides next year. Once that happens Bush is a lame duck for good.
