Welcome to the thread, Roberto,

I thought your saying that it didn't "grip your imagination" interesting because Meursault is so very literal! He HAS no imagination. He reports to us, often in detail, but with no interpretation. Things just ARE, people just ARE, life just IS. Occasionally I seem to remember him taking a stab at why someone did something, but then he usually added, "But I;'m probably wrong."
Camus' style also just IS.

Oh well, that was a tangent. I know it wasn't what you meant exactly. But people without imagination seem to struggle with empathy. It was frustrating to those of us who are imaginative to deal with his lack of it. I wanted to smack him- what are you FEELING!

Poet's interpretation of the sun as repressed emotion could explain why it weakened him M. Repression takes a serious toll- a lot of psychic energy. It has negative power, as the sun did on M.

Loved your idea about the possessed man..I was really puzzled about why he shot, not just once, but repeatedly.
