What JRI said is definitely reasonable. Don't forget that MSFT makes a lot of its "investment" money through options on its own stock. They certainly know what kind of news will make their stock rise and what will not. No doubt they only told what they had to. They are already pretty far in the hole with earnings this quarter, since they lost everything they made essentially.
