We had a aeroplane glut too. Following the Iraq War the Airline business nosedived. There were branf new planes flying straight from Boeing's Seattle plant to be parked in the Mojave desert.

The Mojave desert is where airplanes find their ultimate destination. But when Braniff wnet belly up, its planes were parked there. The dry air of the desert is good for the planes. They just board up the windows and close the engines to protect from the dust.

We had also a oil refinary glut too. During the oil shock, refineries were mothballed since the petrol consumption went down.

This say a lot about the decision making scenaros companies in these big businesses have to work with.
