I would argue that registration is consistent, even perhaps intended, by the Framers. My support for that argument is in US v. Miller.

US vs Miller doesn't mention registration. Also it is not an authoritive source for the intentions of the framers or IMO what the constitution says. The decisions of the USSC determine how laws and the constitution will be enforced but if the USSC interpreted the constitution to say for example that the US government faced no restrictions on its control of free expression then the USSC would be wrong. This wrong decision would have the force of law. It would have an effect on the actual actions of the US government but it would not be right. My point is an idea is not right just because the USSC says it is so. If the constitution says X, and the USSC pronounces that it says Y, then it still says X, even though it will be treated as if it says Y.

"Also non gun related violent crime in the UK has been higher then similar crime in the US despite the much easier availability of guns here."

The way I read this, "because" would have been a better choice of words than "despite". I'm not sure whether you might have mis-spoke. Is that what you intended to say?

Yes I intended to say despite. My error was in saying that it was "higher in the UK" when I meant to say it was "higher here then in the UK". If someone wants to commit a violent act and guns are easily available then they would be less likely to use a knife then if guns are not available.
