The Republican-lite contingent of the democrat party met last week. They were laughed off the stage. Do you think Gephardt or Dashol agree with one plank on the Republican Party platform? (A good document BTW. One only a handful of elected Republicans take seriously unfortunately.)

It's clear where the democrats are coming from. They are hell-bent on turning the USA into France. The center of politics has been defined as a collection of policies that will grow the size of the Federal Budget 7% a year for the foreseeable future. If you object and advocate growing 5%/year [ i.e. GWB] you are labeled a RADICAL RIGHT-WINGER. If you are going to be labeled that anyway, why not fight for real limited growth policies. Aim for substantial cuts in Federal power and then fall back to a tiny cut as a compromise. The Republicans always take the other tack. Small (read stingy) growth and then capitulate to "medium" growth.

I have been following politics for a long while. I don't see any change in the right direction coming from Republicans. Patients is not a virtue when a you're parked on the tracks and a train is coming.

I think the Democrats have been playing at being Republican- lite.
