Andreas- Of course, you can always argue that Intel is cooking the books, that they are lying about shipments etc. But those things only work over a short period of time. And so far I've seen no evidence that these accusation are true.

As far as Q2 market share goes, I don't know who is telling the truth. In the last year, Intel has consistently denied the real gains made by AMD. But I'm still not sure about Q2.

But this gross margin put out by Intel is an utter fantasy. They are predicting a gross margin of 47% for Q3 and 49% for the full year. This is very close to the gross margin for 2000. Of course in 2000 they were selling top of the line P3's for about $1,000. So the pricing for their top chips is cut in half and the gross margin goes down 1% or 2%?? And, of course, the P4 costs more to manufacture as well.

Aren't you impressed by the investment skill at Intc? Even though virtually every other company has written down their investment portfolio, Intel has not. This will have to happen. But the point is that Intel has quite a history of massaging the numbers. But you can't do this forever and they will be hurting in the not too distant future.
