Yeah, but they've been forced to cut the list price of P4 1.5 to $133 to get the things to sell in any kind of volume.

Intel's ASP on the P4s it is shipping to Dell is probably flirting with $100 after you factor in terms and co-op. At that point, the fact that it takes $60 to FAB, test, and package one vs. $35 to FAB, test, and package a PIII or Athlon is a factor (though not an overwhelming one, I'd agree).

Meanwhile AMD is moderating any decline in its ASPs by blending in increasing sales of slightly higher priced mobile chips - which is killing overall ASPs in mobile chips, Intel's last remaining golden goose.

Server sales are way down regardless of what AMD does or doesn't do to Intel's server ASPs.
