Hey, Brocade concedes nothing, dude.<g>

If one looks at the Gartner/DataQuest report on Brocade's switch market segment projection for "integrated switches," one might conclude that the SW6400 was meant to be more than a stopgap product.

In addition, Dataquest ranked the market for integrated switches, such as the Brocade SilkWorm 6400 Integrated Fabric Switch, as the third fastest growing switching segment, estimated to reach nearly $1 billion by 2005.

Of course, the report doesn't speculate as to how much of that market Brocade presumes to capture. The same can be said for the newly minted "high availability core switching products" segment, for which they currently have no product.

Brocade might be conceding on one thing though. I understand that the second generation of the SW12000 is belatedly slated to include FICON so they can play with the Big Boys.
