Emile, I looked but cannot find the article about a company planning on using existing, in-service gas lines to deliver last mile connectivity for buildings. I saw the article in the print version of NYTimes Thursday, possibly Wednesday. The other last mile option currently of interest is wireless access at above 1Mbps.

I believe the Fed man can make a textbook case of fiber, but most chalkboard economists would fail miserably at any attempts to steer a MNC.
