Reg- I disagree with you on both ends of the Wintel duopoly. AMD is out engineering Intel and it is only a matter of time until this is confirmed in the marketplace.

As far as Microsoft goes, the survivors left in the present PC debacle will never again let their fates be determined by only one homogeneous Windows solution. .Net is destined to go over in its introduction in the Bush Recession of 2001 as did the Edsel in the Eisenhower Recession of 1956.

What you are doing is subscribing to the theory of "If I believe it, it will be". That theory has been pretty discredited in the recent NASDAQ disaster.

Once again, good luck. I'm afraid that "I will build it and they will come" will not happen anytime soon. But what you are doing is excellent practice and should position you for the future when better solutions are offered from a variety of sources.
